of boobpancams, the middleman and anathem...

The baby Touda is too cute! Want one :)

It's hard to get a full body shot in Sora o Kakeru Shoujo when BOOBPANCAM is turned on, sigh, someone smack that A.I in the electricals for me?

So finally I'm reading the Middleman comics and loving every page of it, especially the way it plays with words:

"Skinnydipping in the stupidity pond, what it would take for you to take me back - a rip in the fabric of time, you practically killed my bf - he's a doorknob, re-gosh-darn-diculous, not a gosh-darn chance in heck, sweet tarnation this one's a pickle, lickety-split, I'm gonna develop retroactive amnesia the moment this conversation is done, hey bondage freaks, come get some! O2STK...it stands for, organization too secret to know, itzilizchlitlichlitzyl"

Genius!

I finally have Neal Stephenson's Anathem in my hands, what a brick! It's only taken, what? Four months, one library reservation cock-up, 3 reservation fees, 4 strained conversations with moronic librarians (just how long does On Order mean? What do you mean my reservation isn't on the system? You say now I pay after the book arrives, but the website charged me instantly!) to get the damn thing...and now I only have 3 weeks to read the 900+ page bugger. Joy!

There is a Ga-Rei trading card game, which I am less excited about than seeing the end of the anime, I can't read Japanese anyway, do I particularly want to? All those hours of my life...

If only I was the confessor...I want to wear that outfit!

Underworld 3 made me happy when there was lots of action, but the filler bits left me wishing they would get on with it. Bill Nighy enrapturing as always, many many shots of him sitting on a chair. I think perhaps since I've got into the Sookie Stackhouse series I am left wanting more supernatural beings, the odd were-tiger or were-panther would have made the film more exciting for me, plus, we all knew how it was going to end anyway?!

The library is annoying me, the catalogue is down, so I can't get hold of, books 6,7,8 of Charlaine Harris's 'dead' books.n I'm going to have to hunt down a good second hand book site, or maybe even buy them from amazon...the horror!

Kurokami the animation 1, only leaves me escited about a world where buildings and street lights are partially underwater...surely someone would have turned off the electricity?!

Tytania 14 totally convinced me they were going to have the worst death ever by a guy tripping and falling down some stairs.

I totally watch Legend of The Seeker for moments like these:The H.P Lovecraft Ga-nime mostly makes me wish the artist would create a music video for iliketrains, I get that kinda vibe from it.

Because Legend of the Seeker Puppets make me giggle :)

Battlestar Galactica is thoroughly depressing, I love the idea of seeing your own dead body and not knowing who you are!!
Legend of the Seeker, just has these random moments that crack me up and I giggle happily. I'm now toying with the idea of reading the books, I want to read a brutal version where it isn't all lalala everything goes merrily.

Japanese release of Kuroshitsuji 1, how I want thee! Mmm.

I picked up a volume of Priest and XS manga I was missing :) happy times! Can't wait to see Underworld 3! Eee!

REPO leaves me feeling a bit, meh

Well I got excited again about something that should have been awesome but failed to deliver, it was sexy but not sexy enough, musical but not memorable enough, and i cared about the characters, but not enough to shed a tear...it didn't move me, but it was a little bit of goth musical hottness.

Reasons to feel happy about REPO:
There should have been more sexy gothness in red rain? Yes.

For the record, wind-up zombies are awesome, and Risk would be even cooler it it was taking over Antartica with those penguins from madagascar :D

Tytania brought tears to my eyes...

Friends who know what art I like ROCK.

Whoa it's been 10 days, and so much has happened!!Firstly, I'm a bit disappointed by the first terminator film comic prequel, it better get better, the film better not be bad, how could it be WORSE than T3 anyway? ... :/ I'm looking at the Shrapnel comic covers on my bedroom wall and anticipating greatness, or at least kick-ass female raar, same goes for Hot Wire.

Stargate SG-1 ended...and I've got to say I was left feeling a bit MEH, it was ever so slightly cheesy as they stare at Earth from a balcony *puke*, come on writers, the spin-off stuff better be more exciting.

After watching The Mentalist 12 I really love the word Cowen! Out of wicca context, as a cool word, it sums up the way most of my customers act, across between cows and zombies...beware the cowen, for they do not know what they are...

Tytania 13 brought tears to my eyes, HOW COULD THEY KILL OFF THE MOST AWESOME FEMALE CHARACTER OF THE AUTUMN SEASON?!! That's what makes anime so great though, they're not scared to kill off the love interest to drive the plot in the inevitable direction, he needed the motivation, that lamentable push...Tytania you're screwed. Lira... I'll miss you. Not only that but now they have the most awesome of baddies I've seen in a while, that's what happens when your fishy pet chews off a chunk of your face! I haven't been this excited about a series for a while, and it feels good :)
I got intrigued by a new type of anime Ga-nime, where it's all about the art pictures, not about fluid animation, I have obtained H.P Lovecraft The Dunwich Horror ga-nime, and I'm psyched that it's going to rock...or...fail miserably to impress. It has the potential to astound the eyes with the right artist, I'd rather see 10 gorgeous frames than a 100 mediocre ones!

I spent £25 at another manga sale on 8 sci-fi/fantasy/horror manga inclucing Hino Horror, Stone 2, Metro Survive, E'S, EV, Kieli...more...it's great to flesh out my bookshelves. I'm not going to run out of manga to read too soon! Tokyopop have sent me another stack of awesomeness to review (including Vassalord and Ghostbusters!), need to get on that quick, and I now have 6 'acadamic' type books on anime and manga to get stuck into, it's like I'm doing my own little MA in Anime and Manga Studies ^_^;

Finished Dead As A Doornail, I'm so entwined in the world of Sookie Sackhouse now, and I LOVE that there is a shifter who turns into a tiger, since I would LOVE to be able to turn into a tiger myself sometimes, meow! Roar! Hehe. I'm thinking of getting into Altered Carbon next, squee!!This Himawari body pillow is quite meow.

REPO is around to dl, and since it is going straight to DVD (*cries*), I AM SO THERE. It's happening tonight, I better be singing along with glee. Now I am left wondering if repossession mambo willl be worse/better/same get into cinemas, considering Jude Law is in it, I'm thinking it'll hit big screen?

I've read bad things about The Spirit, so am now gutting and sulking and not going to see it in a big room. Checked out Role Models with workmates, gotta say it takes the mickey out of LARPers and made my geeky side squee with happiness, all I need now is a foam sword and field, and an army of squirrels and walking trees, yeah! Wondering if I can drag people to see Underworld 3, it is oozing sexy goth vampireness at me.

There are many anime box sets I would love to buy if I had enough moneys, so instead I'll lovingly post pictures. Sigh. This is the Japanese release, maybe one day, it'll get over the America, meanwhile...I'd love it even if i can't follow it all!Wallflower = goth girl and bishies, yay!
Ayakashi Ayashi
009-1. It's not amazing, but anything with a female spy and I'm there.

Today is going to involve board games, and maybe some wind-up zombies...YAAY!

Of Badgers, Zombies and Yuri

Prince Caspian: I think my exact reaction was Eeeeeeeee! A talking badger. Then later, Eeee! A fighting mouse, and it's Eddie Izzard! Yay. Now looking forward to The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. :)

Resident Evil Degeneration: the fact that I thought this was going to be frightening is now mildly embarrassing. They didn't seem to realise that you can't mix the humour of a woman with a gun telling a zombie to 'Stop! Or I'll Shoot', with a serious back story, it's very difficult to take emotional acting from a 3D girl seriously without giggling. Plastic times!

I picked up Previews Nov 2008 so I can see which comics etc. I might be tempted with this month *giggles excitedly* loving the poster which comes with them.

A friend who has excellent taste in artistic yuri uh 'literature' showed me this *nsfw*. Well it made my day anyway!

Monday, 5 January 2009

It has been 4 days since my last confession...

...because I have the plague II, which seems to involve lots of lying down, not being able to breathe/sleep normally!

I'm never going to look at bath tubs the same way after the J. Creek special.

Someone left a bubble bath dalek next to the counter at work so I adopted it, and I've been hoping its presence would ward off evil customers...I'm not entirely convinced it's working.

Stargate Atlantis 5.19:

Well someone likes CSI and The Matrix. Wraith make cool goths! Unfortunately it's got to the point where I don't care how this underwhelming series ends as long as they don't kill off Rodney!

Macademi Wasshoi 1.7-10. I do question why I watch 'bad anime'. This magical fantasy series pokes fun at so many aspects of anime and manga fandom, it's a brainless series to catch up on when you're feeling sick...plus, the fan service makes me giggle:

Jigoku Shoujo Mitsuganae 7-13. Despite my continual frustration over the repetitive elements of this show, I remain interested in the grudges, who will be sent to Hell? I particularly enjoyed ep 8 with the angry nieghbour and robotic chihuahuas. The part where the tutor spills food on Akie's neck and sends her off to the shower...was going a whole different direction in my head than it took in the actual plot!Hell Girl is finally out of her body...so what happens now? Another girl/girl bathtub scene?

Is it bad when I look at this Kurogane no Linebarrels figure I think, ik, what horrible fat legs? It doesn't feel in proportion.

Apparently not only reindeer like bananas (Twiglets reference, you had to be there at the time).

G-9, and the end of Kurozuka...eh?

G-9 didn't have the kind of fluid animation I was expecting, however, what it lacked in motion it made up for in style. A girl diving into the consciousness of another person, requires complete amnesia in order to destroy their monster. Loved the fight sequence ink art so much.
It has the kind of random female character design I crave:
The last episode of Kurozuka left me feeling disturbed and a little confused. There was a LOT of blood. Naked lady Kuromitsu cradling the decapitated head of her lover was a little too much for me. Another series where I enjoyed the fight scenes even if it felt a little pretentious. I hope they make more! Blood!!

So I got to wondering about the year 2008's sci-fi manga - has some translator lovingly translated something amazing? Will I spend the next decade hoping an American publisher will pick it up? Then I start to question myself. Am I so eager for a good sci-fi read that I'll start to think average series are better than they really are...I overthink things. :/

La Mosca looks ok...

...a bunch of people locked in a jungle, seeing one crushed to death by an invisible monster, quite a powerful image! Only 2 chapters out so far.

The art of Blame!2 didn't disappoint...but then, I knew it wouldn't.

Freesia hits volume 9 and I still hope upon hope that one day Dark Horse publishes it, or it gets turned into an anime. Watching one man's life fall apart in the middle of a fucked up world. That bit with the spaghetti... *eugh*. I'm looking forward to more from the Triumvirate :) I love it when I can't get enough of something and I can't put my finger on why, and I don't want to define it.
I wasn't sure what to make of The Man Who Saw Hell the first chapter from Salaryman from Hell, the train running off the tracks was interesting but I was gawping at the screen when the mother wraps duck tape around the head of her child and puts her in her room!! Fantastic stuff, horribly delightful. I'll be keeping an eye out for more chapters of this! A bit more horror than sci-fi.
Toshokan Sensou: Spitfire, reminds me I want to watch Library Wars the anime (= s it's in Backlog Hell). I'm a sucker for anything where the female protagonist has unusual strength.
I'm sure there were plenty of amazing releases from 2008, not just sci-fi, they weren't scanlated, they're just out of reach (on the other side of the planet) inside someone's imagination...

Well I'm going to watch the Jonathan Creek special and feel sorry for myself because my throat hurts. Happy New Year!
